Chickenpox, also referred to as water pox, wet pox, or spittle pox, is a disease transmitted and caused by the varicella-zoster virus through droplet infection.
Chickenpox occurs mainly in children and causes a severely itchy, blistered rash and also a high fever. Shortly before the rash breaks out and for a few days afterwards, the child usually feels unwell, accompanied by headache and fever. Between ten and twenty-one days can pass from the day of infection to the first symptoms (incubation period). After another seven to ten days, most children are completely healthy again.
A lotion containing zinc, which the doctor prescribes, relieves the itching. You can also counteract the symptoms by administering homeopathic remedies, such as Belladonna D6 for infections with fever, as well as Rhus toxicodendron D12 for itchy rashes.
Bath your child in a bathtub filled one-third with lukewarm water and two tablespoons of baking soda, this will relieve the itching.
